Consortium Purchasing Directory
Edition
Two Now Available
The Second Edition of the Consortium Purchasing Directory
is now available. It is the most comprehensive guide to the library consortium
market and a directory of consortia that license electronic content. The library
consortia selected for inclusion in the Directory actively acquire content for
their member institutions, or have announced that they intend to do so. They are
primarily academic, medical, public, school and government libraries.
New consortia continue to emerge at a surprising rate; the first
edition published in early 2003 comprised 164 entries, while this edition
profiles 242 consortia, a 47.5% increase in content.
The directory is devised to assist publishers, vendors and
intermediaries in dealing with the library consortium market. It contains
information on the key issues of negotiation: pricing, licensing and usage
rights. The principal statements of policy and principle from major library
groups around the world are included, so that publishers and vendors have proper
knowledge of the ethical, financial and practical concerns they will meet in
negotiation.
Consortia Profiles
In the body of the Consortium Purchasing Directory,
each consortium is profiled to include the following information:
- Contact details, including names and email addresses.
- An overview of the consortium.
- List of members.
- Content licensed and recent trials.
- Relevant background information such as organisational structure and
content acquisition policy.
Consortia Contact Spreadsheet
A separate Excel spreadsheet is included
in the purchase price. The spreadsheet contains all contact information for
consortia incorporating: multiple named contacts, email addresses, postal
addresses, phone and fax numbers. The Consortia Contacts spreadsheet can be used
throughout the sales process, whether it is to produce mailing labels for direct
mail campaigns, e-marketing campaigns or for more in depth
strategies.
